Notes for Meijer/ Abraham b’ Samuel (Levi) Bloemhof
since 1811 (NaamsAanneming) recorded under his new first name Abraham and new surname Bloemhoff. Though later his old first name Meijer was stated again in several instances and Bloemhof was spelled in many variations (Blomhof etc). [It is rather unusual to choose a surname differing from his oldest brother’s, Jonas Samuel Goudsmit, but by taking the new first name Abraham it seems like he considered his NameAssumption as the new beginning of his Family-branch; and also he may have found it difficult to associate his profession as a Butcher with the name Goudsmit (= Goldsmith).]
