1781 first time mentioned as “Heyman Levi”on the five-yearly list of Houses and inhabitants: “Dorp no 3 - Huis 21B”
[NB: after the death of Hijman’s widow, their 3 orphaned children came by notarial acts (dd 4.5.1787 and 1.2.1788, Bladel) under custody of Jonas Samuel Levi (Goudsmit) and Jacob Samuel Levi (Groenewoudt) [cf the record sheet of Marian Jacobs] —
[cf: the youngest of the 3 children (later mentioned as “Benjamin Levi Hijmans”) is in 1817 in Oud-Beierland notifying the death of Jonas Samuel Goudsmit, explicitly mentioned as being his cousin, which could mean that his father Hijman Levi was a brother of Jonas; yet so far there is no other proof — and in his scarce mentions (found so far) he was named just “Hijman Levy” — thus without the patronymic “Samuel”.
