Notes for Levinus/ Levi/ Leib b’ Jacob Sluis (Sluijs)
also spelled Livinius or Levinis

25.12.1728 Dordrecht: Together with his brother Hartog Jacob, his sons Salomon and Marcus and his cousin Zacharias Eliazar he initiates the official founding of The Jewish Community. ®14
7.9.1743 according to the ‘Gaarderregister’ He dies and is buried on ‘De Hoogt’ in the ‘Wilgenbos’ — his tombstone is the oldest of the cemetery. [thanks to the research of Mascha van Dort — cf website: www.stolpersteine-dordrecht.nl]
[NB: researching:
> 29.7.1746 Dordrecht: Levi Jacobs has sworn the ‘Eed van Joden’ (Oath of Jews) at the occasion of a business conflict (Gemeente Archief Dordrecht 3, inv nr 1972, folio 155) ®14 [NB: the date of this oath is incompatible with the date of his death! so maybe this is a possible grandson of his — to be researched further]
