Notes for Philip b’ Mozes Broekhuijsen (Broekhuizen)
also mentioned as ‘Chaim Peis Halevi’
acc to his marriage act (1757) his parents are deceased, he is assited by his cousin Salomon Abrahams
“Philip Moses van Broekhuijsen jood oud 30 jaar in de houttuijnen ouds dood geadsisteert met zijn neef Salomon Abrahams. Beletje Levy van Ams jood oud 22 jaar woond als boven geadsisteert met moeder Vrouwtie Goutsmits”
[NB: the surname ‘Broekuizen’ is derived from Bruchhausen, a village between Höxter and Brakel, 45 km south-east of Lemgo — Philip may well be a grandson of Abraham Levi, who had in 1685 moved fom Brakel to Bruchhausen. 3 sons of this Abraham, named Moses, Levi/Leiffman and Marcus, are mentioned living there, e.g. in 1710, 1722, 1734, 1759, 1763; cf ®54 p.431]
— cf also: Isaac b’ Marcus Goudkop Lemgo Broekhuizen
