Attention: he is not the “Nehemias or Chaim Cleve” who is mentioned by Kaufmann ®25 [p347] — wrongly as being the grandfather of Sara-Hanna b’ Moses Cleve, spouse of Alexander David Braunschweig [cf].
Nehemias and Chaim are different persons (a*) and (b*):
(a*) Nechemya/Jochem Kleef (d. 17.4.1702, drowned in Amsterdam, buried in Muiderberg — reg 2513), married to NN — father of [cf Akevoth
®2]:
— (a1 #) Liepman b’ Nechemya Kleef (d. sep 1756 Amsterdam — buried at Zeeburg), married aft 1712) to Reijna Malka Joseph
— (a2 #) Meyer b’ Jochem Nechemya (d. 1742 Amsterdam — buried at Zeeburg), married ca 1700 to Duifje b’ Jonas jom-Tov Gerson Cohen
— (a3 #) Jochem/Nechemya b’ Jochem/Nechemya Kleef (b. 1702 — d. 31.12.1761 Amsterdam — buried at Zeeburg), married to Reijna Salomon Shlomo
(b*) This — by Kaufmann assumed — Chaim (Gomperz) Cleve is sometimes mentioned as son of Josef Aron Cleve [cf Akevoth, see under here] — How to explain “Josef” and who was “Aron”? — further research JG]
A fact is that Hijman/Chaim b’ (Josef) Aron was after 1704 present as witness in 3 marriage acts ®2. So he can not be the same as Chaim/Heiman b’ Josef Menachem who died already in 1704 in Hamburg [cf].
The latest of the 3 acts is concerning the marriage of his granddaughter Betje/Sybilla/“Pes bat aluf Moshe m.h.l.” in 1730 (Amsterdam dtb 717/388), where her father “Mozes Aron” was her witness, while she also was “accompanied by her grandfather katsin pum khr”r Chaim bar Joseph Aron”]
So neither can this Chaim/Hijman be the same as the father of “Moses Chaim Cleve” who already died on 27.4.1711 in Amsterdam (buried Muiderberg, reg 3646), refered to by Kaufmann ®25(p347) as the father of two daughters who married in Braunschweig [Sara-Hanna] and Hamburg [Bella].
— The confusion is complicated, as it seems certain that Sara-Hanna is a daughter of Mozes/Kosman b’ (Josef) Elias Gomperz Cleve Emmerich.
(b*) The sons of this Chaim/Hijman b’ Aron v Kleef are [acc to Akevoth
