Notes for Abraham b’ Emanuel Tall (Levie)
son of Emanuel/ Menachem/ Mendel b’ David (b. in Schnaittach, nesr Nürnberg, d. before 1730 Talle?, Germany) & Abraham’s mother NN
[NB: before 1710 — moving as a young boy with his family from Horn, a village 15 km south of Lemgo, to Talle, just 7 km north of Lemgo]
[NB: 1710 — his father Emanuel David is an ally of Samuel Isaac Goldschmidt (Hameln) in a longlasting conflict in the Lemgo-synagogue. Seemingly one of Abraham’s sisters (Blume?) might be married to Levin Samuel Goldschmidt]
1730 Amsterdam “op Vlooijenburg”, he is assisted at his marriage by Joseph Cohen.
1733 Amsterdam “op Uijlenburg”, “Abraham Levij van Lemgo, wedn’ Clara Cohen”.
1734 Amsterdam being her ‘uncle’ he assists Femmitje/ Vrouwtje Levi Goudsmit at her marriage [cf]
1758 Amsterdam “op de Breestraat”, “Abraham Levi van Tal jood wedn’ Roosje Salomons” [NB: age difference with his 3rd spouse is 38 years]

[NB: Abraham wrote a manuscript in Yiddish about his travels in Europe. A copy of this is in the Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana of the Amsterdam University — cf the book dd 2002 published by Brill-Styx:
‘Travels among Jews and Gentiles: Abraham Levie’s Travelogue, Ansterdam 1764, edition of the text with introduction and Commentary, by Shlomo Berger”]
