Notes for Sarel b’ Isaak Oppenheim(er)
“…..Frau Sarel, Gattin des Vornehemen und Einflussreichen, des Steuereinnehmers und Fürsprechers, des Berühmten, des geehrten Meisters, Rav Ber Kann, ……….Tochter des Einflussreichen und Fürsprechers, des Berühmten, des Meisters, Rav Izek Oppenheim, ……..” [cf Epidat]
NB: Sarel is not mentioned in the enumeration of her father’s 14 children [cf
®33, p 260]. In my opinion, it may well be that Sarel is the same as Saul (?), the second child of that enumeration [NB: indicated there with a question mark].
There may be confusion with possible children of an other Isaak (d. bef 1740), son of the scarcely mentioned Nathan b’ Samuel Oppenheimer [cf], who died in 1730. — In the case of Sarel may be doubts because it looks like there is a namesake (Sarah) between the 14 enumerated children — which is unusual. But probably her original name is not at all a variant of ‘Sara’.
In ET the [for Frankfurt yiddish] unfamiliar spelling of her name is considered a Viennese variant.
