Notes for Zanwel/Shmul b’ Herts Bingen (Schuh) z weissen Taube
“….zart an Jahren verschieden…..”, “ .....Es ist der geehrte Schmuel, Sohn des geehrten Naftali (-) …” [both are phrases in his epitaph — the first one: “deceased short/scarce in years”, meaning that he died at young age — the second one meaning that his father is named Naftali (Herts) — this brings about a serious inconsistency: while he died only a few days earlier than his wife who is on several places described as being of high age [cf] the conclusion would be that their marriage must have an enormous age disparity [!!] — but, as his daughter Judle also is stated in the burial register as “die alte” [being of high age], her birth must be not later than 1673, and her father Zanwel must be born earlier than 1660 (at the very least!), which would mean that or the phrase “zart an Jahren” in his epiteph can’t be applicable or Judle is not his daughter, but from an earlier [unknown, not mentioned] marriage of her mother Brendle — ?? JG — furthermore: Deducing Zanwel’s birthdate as “before 1660”, results in a very tight timeline of the estimated birthdates of his parents, grandparents etc.]
House “weisse Taube”
