Notes for Itsek b’ Leib Kann (Bingen) z Halbmond
“….der Spendensammler, der Toragelehrte….”
“the Lotery-Collector”
House “Warmbad”
10 children — 5 of them died as a child and 1 unmarried [cf ET and Epidat]
[NB: one of his young deceased children had the sacral name ‘Jitzchak b’ Jitzchak schli”t’. So seemingly he had got the same name as his father, while his father was still alive. This would be against the command (minhag), that only the name of the dead may be reused [‘awakened’]. But that rule had been eased, as long as the daily/secular names were differing. The son (d. 16.4.1775) was called Aizek and his father (d. 6.9.1811) Itsek — cf ET, Namenkunde p 64]
