1665 living in Amsterdam, taking on lease the pawnshop of Nijmegen.
1669 living in Lippstadt, after getting a “Schutzbrief” of the Kurfürst of Brandenburg as well as the Count of Lippe. This right of Residence had been quite difficult to acquire, as he had failed earlier in 1659. But the influence of his cousin Elias Cleve (Court Factor in Brandenburg) did help this time.
[NB, sideline: in the same year 1669 Samuel Isaak Goldschmidt became Hoffaktor to the Count of Lippe. Samuel was married to a daughter of Mordechai Gomperz Wesel]
Together with”Bendix Lippstadt” (= Benedikt b’ Elias Gomperz [cf], who was his cousin as well as his brother-in-law) Leiman is appointed by the “Grosse Kürfurst” (= Great Elector) Wilhelm Friedrich as his “Kriegsfaktor” and travels allover buying weapons, stocks and supplies for the army. After several years he moves to Wesel. [cf Kaufmann ®25 p.101-104]
[Er war gemeinsam mit Abraham Cohen (Charleville) Pächter der städtischen "Bank van Lening" in Nijmegen. Im Dezember 1669 erhielt er für Lippstadt das Privileg, da sein Neffe Benedict Elias dort lebte. Er handelte in der Stadt mit holländischen Waren, und ehelichte Sara Hitzel Gomperz († 17. Juni 1713 in Amersfoort, bestattet auf dem Friedhof Muiderberg), seine Nichte. Diese Eheschließung sorgte für derartiges Aufsehen, das der Kurfürst am 22. Juli 1668 den Fürsten Moritz veranlasste, nachzuforschen, ob das gesetzlich überhaupt möglich war. Als Kriegsfaktor des Kurfürsten versorgte er gemeinsam mit seinem Neffen Moses Salomon Salman die Armee mit Munition, Geschützen und Monturen. Im Jahre 1681 lebte er in Wesel, das Privileg trat er an seinem Neffen Ruben Elias ab.]
