Notes for Gitchen b’ Merdche Aach segal z Horn
“…..Frau Gitchen, Tochter des Jehuda Mordechai Halevi….” [cf Epidat]
House “Horn”
[NB: in Ele Toldot (ET) and Epidat Gitchen is just like her brother Moshe mentioned as a child of ‘Merdche Aach’ who was born in 1589. But considering their ages at marriage this would result into an impossible timeline. Considering an acceptable lineage of the generations of this genealogy, i’ve linked both children to Merdche’s father: ‘Merdche Aschaffenburg’ — see also the detailed argumentation for this correction in the records of Moshe and Merdche junior and Merdche senior — cf]
Herewith some other facts and questions to be considered:
1) This correction makes it possible that Gitchen was born ca 20 years earlier and had been married before, as is supposed in Epidat, refering to her son Jokew/Jakef b’ Itsek (d. 27.6.1671) — he was already married in 1619, so born abt 1600, which is around the time his (in ET alleged) father Itsek b’ Mosche was born.
2) This correction does not change the unusual situation that Gitchen was (second) married to her brother’s son Itsek b’ Moshe Aach. In this context it may be questioned if Jehuda Mordechai, mentioned in her epitaph as her father [cf Epidat], might be someone else, perhaps an older son of Merdche Aschaffenburg.]
