Notes for Jonas b’ Samuel Levi Goudsmit (Goldschmidt) segal
> 1769 or earlier — arriving in the Netherlands
22.3.1771 — Oisterwijk: earliest record found sofar of “Jonas Samuel”, in a municipal certificate of good behaviour (Oisterwijk, Oud Rechterlijk Archief inv nr 511): ‘He had been living during 2 years in the house of David Hartog’ [cf]
> 1771 Veghel — mentions in the yearly ‘house/tax surveys’
> 1780 Eersel -- buying a house - signing the contract in Hebrew: “Jona bar Shemoel segal”
> 1788 Bladel — notarial act by which he together with his brother Jacob are becoming the Guardians/Fosterparents over the 3 orphaned young children of Hijman Levi (d. 1784) & Marian Jacobs (1787): Rebecca, Jacob and Benjamin
> 1811 Lommel -- he is registered (for the first time officially) with surname “Goudsmit”
> 1812 moving with his whole family from Lommel, via Oisterwijk, to Oud-Beijerland, house nr 358, Molendijk
> 1817 decease at age 77 — [NB: notifier in his death act is his foster-son Benjamin Levi Hijmans (33) stated as his “neeff” (= cousin!), which might mean that Benjamin’s father Hijman Levi was another brother of Jonas — [but so far there is no further proof for this]
