Notes for Lea b’ Levi? (Levij) Campion
in her death-act stated as ‘Lea Campion widow of Samuel Nieukoop’ [her mentioned age of 99 years seems overexaggerated]
mentioned as ‘Lea Levij’ in the death act of her daughter Rachel Campion (d. 1844, age 81)
she died in Rotterdam, Kikkersteeg 328, the house of her son-in-law Jonas van der Hoed (46 years, hoedenschoonmaker)
NB: Jonas van der Hoed is witness in her death-act together with Moses Goudsmit (59 years, oudkleerenkoper), neighbour.
[NB: her birthplace mentioned in her death-act seems legible as “Venseveer” — an unknown place, so probably wrongly misunderstood by the county clark. Possibly it is ‘Maarsseveen’, near Maarssen, where in the 18th century was an important jewish community, with 2 km northly a very old jewish cemetery in Tienhoven — situated north of Utrecht where in that period Jews were not allowed to house in the city itself — also situated ca 20 km east of Nieuwkoop, from where her husband was originating — ohter less likely possibility: ‘Renseveen’, at that time the name of ’Stichts Veenendaal’, situated 20 km south of Nijkerk’]
