Notes for Baruch b’ Isaac Aschaffenburg (Goldschmidt) segal z Einhorn
1562 in Frankfurt — as yet the only info about him via his mention in the letter
®48 of his brother Moshe (Petershagen) to their common brother Simon (Aschaffenburg) — [cf]
being seemingly younger than most of his brothers, he hardly can be the same person as the goldsmith “Baruch”, who is mentioned in 1537 (or earlier) living in Schwarzach (East Franconia) and who might be another descendant of his grandfather “Mostel” [via his uncle Josef — cf] As a side issue may be considered how the name
Baruch has entered in the Goldschmidt family — as it seems via one of the unknown (NN) spouses of Mostel or his sons -- none of Mostel’s four known sons-in-law had this name.
According to some genealogies (e.g. the Geni website) is Baruch’s brother Moyse b’ Isaac Petershagen considered as the missing link in the lineage between forefather “Mostel b’ Josef Schaffhausen mi Nürnberg” and his descendants a few generatiosn later, identified in Witzenhausen on the “Schutzjude” Lists since 1618, in particular: “Schmull”, “Liebman oder Lev” and “Benedikt” [cf] — But just as plausible (and uncertain) would be a lineage conjunction along Baruch b’ Isaac Aschaffenburg — and there are also several other, totally different options — for instancce along Baruch’s uncle Josef b’ Mostel, or even via Baruch’s aunt Shprintz b’ Mostel — [cf]
The exact relations between some of the first Generations are based upon scarce information and are often worked out here in just a reasonable assumption — [JG]
NB — this Person Sheet is part of an “hypothetical offspring construction” — one of the many possiblities to bridge a time gap in the lineage, between the son(s) of Mostel Goldschmidt Schaffhausen and later generations
